Monal Tourist Home

Visitors to Uttarkashi come here to escape the noise, crowds and tension of city living, looking for peace, quiet and relaxation, hoping to find themselves after being lost in the concrete jungle of cities. They want to be close to nature, to be embraced by it and to feel its healing, peaceful comfort. Being used to comforts of modern living most people do not want to give up on the basic facilities of being close to the city, so they can walk to it or be in the proximity of an area where transport to and from the city is easily available. Monal Tourist Home (MTH) provides you all this and more. It is a quiet family run guest house which is situated in peaceful surroundings and yet is within a comfortable walking distance from the town of Uttarkashi if you want to stroll into the town and look around. If you are not in the mood for walking, then there is always a shared taxi passing on the Gangotri road that will take you to town.

It is a well run and very clean establishment, managed by an enthusiastic and energetic young man with an engaging smile and a happy demeanor - Deependar Panwar. The property consists of a double storey building with two separate wings (Wings A and Wing B) and a neat, well kept and sunny garden where you can relax. The upper storey of the house has a verandah that overlooks the garden and surrounding fields where you can sit and watch the locals going about their daily business.

Monal offers several services to its guests. There is much that you can choose from: - go on hikes or treks with an expert guide, experience the meditative calmness of angling for brown and rainbow trout in the Asi Ganga river, be entertained by locals, learn a few new skills, get involved in stimulating debates and discussions, or simply put your feet up and relax in the guest house soaking in the sounds of the river and the forests. We invite you to come and be a part of Monal family. The web site is still under development, we apologize for any inconvenience you may face while going through these pages.
