Nearest Railway Station is at Haridwar. From Haridwar take a bus or a shared taxi or a shuttle train to Rishikesh. The fare is a maximum of INR 20/-

From Rishikesh you can either take a bus or a shared taxi to Uttarkashi.

The buses leave frequently till about 1.00 pm from the main bus stand at Rishikesh. The fare is INR 160/- per head. It takes about 8 hours to reach Uttarkashi on a bus.

You can get shared taxis from the Taxi Stand near Natraj Hotel in Rishikesh. The fare is INR 200/- per head. You can also hire a full taxi to bring you up to Uttarkashi. The cost is INR 2200/- to 2500/- depending upon your bargaining skills. Do not pay more than 2500/-. The taxi takes about 5 hours to reach Uttarkashi from Rishikesh.

The nearest Airport is at Dehradun.

If you are coming from Dehradun, take a bus from the ISBT. They ply frequently till 1.00 pm when the last bus leaves. The fare is 180/- per head. Also a new service, called 'Vishwanath Seva' has been started from Dehradun. These buses are comfortable and ply directly for Uttarkashi without stopping anywhere in route as other buses. They start from 'Parade Ground' early morning till 1 pm and charge Rs. 190 per person.

Taxis also ply between Dehradun and Uttarkashi . You can either take a shared taxi or hire one for yourself. The fare of shared taxi is INR 220/- per head and for a full one depending on your bargaining skills can cost you between INR 2500/- to 3000/-. The travel time is between 6 – 7 hours from Dehradun to Uttarkashi. You can find taxis at the taxi stand near Risapana Bridge.

How to reach Monal Tourist Home

From the bus stand follow the Gangotri Highway, past Kailash Ashram, till you reach Hotel Shivalinga. There is a road that goes up from opposite Hotel Shivalinga toward Kot Bungalow. Leave the highway and take the road up towards Kot Bungalow follow the road up until you see Monal.
